There are different methods to use to increase the size of a ring, and which techniques we use depends entirely on the situation. The most common method is to remove part of the ring’s shank, and to fill in the gap with metal that can be then used to increase the whole circumference of the ring. With proper soldering, buffing and polishing, the end result here is an upsized ring with absolutely no marks or indication of alterations. A perfect finish.

Like with increasing a ring’s size, decreasing involves alterations to the ring’s shank. With this process, we cut the ring’s shank and remove a part of it. After the removal, we carefully solder the shank back together so that it retains its natural shape. With the shank soldered back together, we then buff and polish the ring to a beautiful finish.

Ring resizing projects typically take our team around 45 minutes. This means that if you bring it in early, in most cases we can offer you a same day turnaround time depending on our schedule and capacity.

There are generally no limits to how much we can resize a ring up or down. There are some instances, however, where a ring’s gem placement or its design can limit a ring’s resizing possibilities – ex. Eternity bands or tension rings. We can resize rings of all precious metals. If your ring is made out of gold, silver, platinum, or even palladium – we can resize it.

Resizing a ring generally does not leave any marks. There are exceptions, however, such as when a ring is made out of a specific combination of metals that would be hard to match the resizing process (increases in size).
