La Fortuna is a locally owned jewelry store located in Miami, Fl. Owned and operated by veteran jeweler Misael Marquez, our store specializes in jewelry repairs and custom design projects of all kinds.
At La Fortuna, what makes us different isn’t only our expertise (check out our reviews!), but our commitment to the client and jeweler relationship. We treat every piece of jewelry we service as if it were our own, and we treat every individual that walks through our door like a friend.
At La Fortuna, clients come to us to repair their keepsakes and heirlooms. We treat each piece of jewelry as our own, and give it the care, patience and expertise needed to bring it back to its former beauty.
Our Story
I started working in the jewelry business at the age of 17. My journey into the industry had simple, humble beginnings, as the first pieces of jewelry I ever worked on consisted of sea shells, corals, and silver from old spoons. Beauty was always the priority, even with those simple pieces back then. It was here where the long nights and hard days of practicing the craft helped me condition my hands.
A few years later, in 1996, I started working as an apprentice in a jewelry factory. This opportunity gave me invaluable experience in learning about crafting and repairing jewelry from local masters. In 2006, after ten years of apprenticeship, my wife and I decided to make the move to greener pastures and arrived in America.
We landed in Miami with nothing but empty pockets and a dream, but we found a way to make it work. With my experience, I managed to find a job at Miami’s Seybold Building where I could continue to hone my skills as a jeweler. In the endless pursuit of learning, I also enrolled at Miami’s Jewelry School where I ended up graduating with studies in Fine Jewelry, Casting, and Diamond Setting.
In 2007, my wife and I decided to take the plunge and start our own jewelry operation. We rented a small space in the Seybold Building and specialized in repairs and special orders. We purchased a Laser Welding Machine to step up our game, and with our expertise and attention to detail, we built up our name and became one of the most popular repair workshops in the area. Within ten years we were working with the majority of jewelry retailers in Downtown Miami, performing repairs and services for their clientele.
Fast forward to 2020, we decided to take the next step in our journey and opened up a retail jewelry store in the heart of Miami – La Fortuna Jewelry Services. With this new storefront, we were able to offer expert repair services, custom jewelry design, and impeccable craftsmanship to Miami’s public. Looking back at the journey from where I started dreaming about jewelry in my small village in Cuba in 1992, to now where we established La Fortuna Jewelry Services, it may seem like we have reached our dreams and final destination. But in all honesty, with the start of this new chapter and the passion that still drives us, I feel like the journey has just begun.
